For Expressions of Interest:-
The total collation
of A.J.S. & Matchless machines and part machines plus individual spare
parts currently residing at A.M.C. Corner Wollongong. A job lot purchase would be opportune, but –
please – no tyre kickers or idiotic offers!
There are a 12 assembled machines (8 Twins, 4 Singles) and 2 doz part
assembled machines with complete gearboxes, but motors consisting of
crankcases, barrel heads, (complete), rocker boxes and timing covers – no
internals – (15 Twins and 9 Singles). On separate stands there are 7 restored
Twin motors, (2x500cc, 1x600cc, 4x650cc), plus 11 Single competition motors
from 1947 to 1955, (3x350cc, 8x500cc), complete with alloy barrels, Lucas
“Wader” magnetos, and Amal carbi’s as period.
A further 10 Single motors are assembled with major components mostly
correct, (some have incorrect pistons and a few small covers may be missing) –
4x350cc, 6x500cc. There are also engine parts to assemble a further 20 Twin
units of all sizes which include 6 reground crankshaft journals. Total magneto
numbers exceed the 100 mark, gearboxes 60 plus, frames 40, and even 30 plus
chronometric speedos, (and 4 tachos), so with a plethora of mudguards, 44
petrol tanks, (even 7 of the two gallon variety), clutches (39), generators
(34), alternators (16), wheels (72) with some Norton types and a couple of
front Twin leading shoe type, 15 seats, all types of tool boxes and oil tanks,
and 36 inner and outer chaincases, (half alloy types), and more than 100 rear
suspension units, (Candlelegs, Jampots and Girlings). So its obvious that it’s
a near 50 year collection of the A.M.C. post war products that could bring a
tear to any A.J.S. and Matchless enthusiasts eyes, and could ensure he can
follow the “Holy Grail” for the rest of his natural life. Most of the above can
be perused on the original (stage 1) of the A.M.C. Corner CD – many of them
distributed world wide – whilst the no2 disc depicts the competition side of
